IMPORTANT UPDATE:
Federal legislation to prohibit the use of handheld phones and other mobile devices while driving has been introduced in the U.S. House. The bill is titled the Safe Drivers Act of 2011. It would be the single law of the land eliminating the need for checking the Governors Highway Safety website every time you cross a state line.

We will track these developments. One or the other proposals may prevail this year. If the NTSB gets their way there won't be a need to worry about where you can, and can't, use your mobile devices anymore.
